Los Alamos National Laboratory Technical Project Manager 4 in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Join an innovative team conducting groundbreaking research in defense of our nation. The Advanced Sources and Detectors (ASD) Project consists of the development of a multiple-pulse (at least 4), single-axis Linear Induction Accelerator radiographic system (nick-named Scorpius). The radiographic system will be used to study the late time stages of implosions involving subcritical quantities of plutonium within the U1a tunnel complex at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The ASD Project is seeking a Technical Lead for Global Controls.
As a Technical Project Manager you will:
Provide leadership in developing and implementing network architecture and data management system across the radiographic system that is consistent with implementation of machine learning protocols.
Provide leadership in integrating and managing software and in standardization of hardware.
Work closely with contractors and technical leads of Accelerator, Injector, Downstream Transport and Detector subsystems to develop robust and reliable controls system compliant with cybersecurity requirements.
Develop strategic plan for managing software updates and hardware improvements and configuration control of both.
Establish close working relationship with NNSS controls technical lead and serve as the point of contact between ASD and NNSS.
· Work with ASD Project Office and Global Controls Control Account Manager (CAM) to develop the CD-2/3 baseline schedule and supporting documentation for testing, integrating and commissioning controls at the Integrating Test Stand and U1A.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Accelerator Facility Experience
Extensive experience with development of software and data management tools. In particular, application of modern data management and analysis tools is required.
Leadership & Collaboration
Have significant experience leading a team/organization and demonstrated ability to collaborate productively across multiple institutions.
Have experience in all aspects of program and project management of technical and/or operational work, including proven familiarity with defining work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones.
Experience in management, supervision, and development of assigned employees.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 12 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
National Laboratory Experience
Experience working at a major facility in a national laboratory system. Experience in working with high performance computing clusters is a plus.
DOE Capital Asset Acquisition
It would be an advantage if you were familiar with DOE Order 413.3B, “Program and Project Management for the Acquisition of Capital Assets.”

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
