Los Alamos National Laboratory Synthetic Chemistry and Fuel Cell Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices Group (MPA-11) is seeking postdoctoral candidates with an accomplished organic chemistry background to support two projects, one is a continuing effort in grid scale energy storage using redox flow batteries; the other project involves durability challenges in fuel cells and electrolyzers.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must have an experimental background and strong publication record involving organic chemical synthesis and characterization. Specific skill sets that will be required for this project include:
Handling of air and water sensitive compounds (Schlenk and drybox competent)
Familiarity with standard characterization techniques, such as solution NMR, UV-VIS, GC/MS, ESI-MS and electrochemistry
Ability to develop and implement new research ideas, and to design and perform advanced experiments
Strong motivation to meet project deadlines
Excellent communication and language skills are required for team interactions
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in electrochemical device testing including PEM- Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers, and redox flow batteries;
Familiarity with SEM, TEM, BET, XRD, XPS, XRF, NMR, Raman, FTIR, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and other materials characterization techniques;
Education: Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed is required.

The Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices group (MPA-11), conducts basic and applied research in areas related to applied energy programs and a variety of problems relevant to the weapons program.
