Los Alamos National Laboratory Production Control Specialist 2/3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at eitherthe Production Control Specialist 2 or Production Control Specialist 3 level , depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Operational Readiness Implementation Supply Chain Management (ORI-3) group is seeking motivated candidates to fill multiple PCS positions. The selected candidates will facilitate safe, compliant and efficient execution of work at TA-55. These PCSs will serve as the points-of-contact for the status of all work performed within their area.

This position is for a Floor Execution Scheduler who will support the Production Support Team in scheduling for critical product lines such as pit production at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. As a scheduler, you will be working primarily in Oracle Production Scheduling (OPS) and will schedule production, maintenance and construction activities along with performing schedule analysis and optimization.

Production Control Specialist 2 ($64,400 - $102,300)

The PCS 2 (Floor Execution Scheduler) will operate and utilize OPS software to support floor execution scheduling in the Plutonium Facility. This position provides critical support to facility and manufacturing integration. The Floor Execution Scheduler will be responsible for ensuring work in the plutonium facility is loaded and leveled, support critical scheduling meetings & communication and work with the customer to ensure scheduling data is accurate and complete. Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. An On-the-Job Training (OJT) assessment will be assigned and its successful completion is a requirement to maintaining this position.

Production Control Specialist 3 ($77,300- $126,000)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the PCS 3 (Floor Execution Scheduler) will be responsible for supporting master scheduling activities and provide scenario modeling and recovery planning, as needed. The PCS3 will use independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives. Will work on unusually significant, unique or complex issues; provide solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Scheduling

Demonstrated e xperience performing, monitoring and reviewing scheduling functions. This includes schedule development, schedule control, schedule analysis and schedule optimization. Demonstrated experience with scheduling software such as Oracle Production Scheduling or its equivalent. Knowledge and intermediate experience with the implementation and maintenance floor execution schedules. Knowledge of production and planning methods. Ability to contribute to the resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements. Knowledge of resource planning and optimization practices as well as multi-organization resource integration processes. Awareness and willing to learn of supply chain management and resource management practices.

Time Management

Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize, prioritize and follow through to completion on multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities. Demonstrated successful experience working on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, varying priorities and deadlines while maintaining excellent quality in daily work.

Communication

Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, verbal & written, demonstrating the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.

Computing/Business Systems and Software

Excellent capabilities with all LANL standard business systems, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and SharePoint.

Organizational Skills

Possess high attention to detail including strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.

Customer Service

Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.

Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.

Education and Experience- Production Control Specialist 2: Position requires an associates degree from an accredited institution and 3 years of related experience ; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the PCS 3 (Floor Execution Scheduler)minimum job requirements will include:

  • The ability to conceptualize and communicate critical scheduling concepts to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience and skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility scheduling.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and contributing to scheduling processes and process improvement initiatives.

  • Advanced experience in working on multiple schedules with demonstrated capability to manage a master schedule.

  • Work accomplished under very minimal direction.

  • Research, assembles and evaluates information or data; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues.

Education and Experience Production Control Specialist 3: Position requires an associates degree from an accredited institution and 6 years of related experience ; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

Clearance

Active DOE “Q” clearance.

HRP: Enrolled in HRP.

TA-55/PF-4 Experience

Demonstrated knowledge of TA-55, PF-4 production lines, PF-4 maintenance, and PF-4 construction.

Oracle Business Systems

Intermediate to advance skills working and demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Business Systems. Working and demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Production Scheduling.
