What You Will Do
The Science and Technology Operations (STO) Facility Operations Directorate (FOD) has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Specialist 2. It is the responsibility of the FOD to ensure that the facilities are operated and maintained in a safe, secure manner and in a ready state for mission execution. The FOD provides organizational leadership for Facility Maintenance, Operations, Environmental Safety and Health, Quality, Waste Services, Project Management and Engineering.
This position, Operations Specialist, provides support to the assigned Operations Manager as a member of STO-FOD.
You will assist the STO Operations Manager (OM) with safety basis, policy implementation, projects and maintenance while working as part of a collaborative team. Duties include serving as an interface between the tenant organizations, support, construction and maintenance services to ensure organizational goals and mission milestones are being met within desired time frames. You will also provide general direction, guidance, data analysis, and/or operational support to ensure the implementation and integration of operational and programmatic functions on a daily basis. This position will also require documentation of facility systems to include how systems operate and how they interfaces with other facility equipment.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge and experience with facility operations by performing routine facility walk-downs, procedure reviews, inspections, and evaluations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility. Coordinate facility and programmatic equipment shutdowns, upgrades, return to service, and installations.
Ability to track and schedule safety basis surveillance to ensure compliance; implements required remedial actions to keep facility within its safety basis. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, and to apply project management principles to organize, coordinate, and accomplish work.
The ability to prepare and review lock-out/tag-out plans that ensure specific instructions for the isolation, containment, and de-energization of various mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological sources according to established procedures and facility guidelines.
Ability to understand and implement abnormal event reporting criteria, including experience in participating or running critiques and lessons learned. Ability to function in an array of coordinator roles in support of operations including, but not limited to, emergency/fire/security, environmental/regulatory compliance, nuclear material accountability.
Excellent communication skills to include written communication and good computer skills.
Education/Experience : Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working within formal change control and configuration management processes. This includes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and the Master Equipment List (MEL).
Experience managing and controlling projects and associated budget/schedules. Facility access control systems and data basis.
Experience with Conduct of Engineering and Maintenance.
A track record of solving and closing issues management actions.
The ability to become a Deployed Purchasing Representative (DPR).
