Los Alamos National Laboratory Mechanical Engineering Technology Student (Post-Baccalaureate) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The selected applicants will use their knowledge of mechanical engineering technology principles to solve problems and execute an interesting, diverse and complex array of projects to meet the needs of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and our external customers. Applicants will be expected to have earned their Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or a closely related field) within the past three years.
Post-Baccalaureate Student (Post Bachelors ST) ($52,478)
Successful applicants will perform the following duties in this position:
Participate as a team member, on component or sub-system hardware design, assembly and/or testing
Contribute to engineering documents such as test plans, test procedures, test reports and engineering requirements
Use Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to capture mechanical engineering designs
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic understanding of CAD modeling and drawing creation
Basic understanding of mechanical engineering design principles
Familiarity with operating instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems for measuring temperature, pressure, strain, and/or vibration
Successful experience working in an integrated team environment
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Experience using SolidWorks or Creo
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) of mechanical hardware
Active DOE or DOD security clearance
Education/Experience: Position requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or a closely related field) from an ABET accredited institution , with a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, within the last three years.

Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
