Los Alamos National Laboratory IT Project Manager 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Requirements and Resources Group (SSO-4) within the Sensitive and Special Operations (SSO) Division is seeking a qualified IT Project Manager 2 (ITPM-2) with a full understanding of multidiscipline IT projects within a classified environment. The ITPM-2 will successfully manage IT project cost and scheduling activities of various complexity and scope to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Field Intelligence Element (FIE) and other Intelligence Community (IC) users. This position will report to the SSO-4 Group Leader to successfully achieve the operational needs of the division through effective project, procurement and communications management.
This position requires experience in developing project documentation, such as requirements documents, communication plans, testing plans, training plans, and maintenance and operations transition plans utilizing templates and/or standards as the project rigor demands. Utilize project management tools/techniques to improve strategic planning, executing/monitoring, and closeout of projects. As an ITPM-2 you will:
Take a leadership role in managing scope, schedule, and budget on cross-organizational IT project initiatives.
Collaborate with team members and managers to build an integrated project team to ensure solutions provided meet customer needs while managing risk.
Communicate and collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and integrated project team members to drive project success.
Work with external and internal customers/stakeholders to identify the work that will be performed to meet the organization’s needs and be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments while selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria used for obtaining results.
Collaborate with fellow ITPM’s to refine project management processes and techniques.
Support and facilitate the refinement of project management processes and techniques.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Cost and Scheduling Expertise
Professional/Specialized experience in the areas of scheduling, cost estimating, resource loaded schedule development, risk and opportunity management.
In-depth knowledge in analyzing challenging schedules and cost estimates.
Demonstrated experience building, implementing, managing project budgets of various magnitudes.
Proven experience balancing multiple projects and associated resources/schedules/budgets.
Team Collaboration Experience
Experience in mobilizing and taking the initiative to lead a multi-organizational, multi-disciplinary team to implement an IT solution and/or service.
Demonstrated experience with implementing and practicing teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, project sponsors, customers, and suppliers.
Proven successful collaboration skills to reach across organizational boundaries, the ability to manage customer relationships in a positive and professional manner.
Experience with interpersonal skills, communications, and relationship building techniques that enhance the ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external personnel.
Advanced leadership skills that enhance the ability to develop and articulate strategic plans and implement that plan across functional teams and/or organizations.
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q, SCI or Top Secret clearance.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 4 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Demonstrated working experience with project management software, such as Atlassian Confluence and Jira systems.
Advanced knowledge implementing networking & infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of DOE, NNSA, and DOE-IN organizations
Active Q, SCI, or Top Secret clearance

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
