Los Alamos National Laboratory Flight Integration and Engineering Deputy Group Leader (R&D Manager 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Put your leadership skills to use for national security! Join our Flight Integration and Engineering Group, Q-19, as the Deputy Group Leader. You will leverage your leadership and technical knowledge to support aircraft flight line testing, ground- and submarine-based missile testing, and world-class ground testing operations, required to assure the unwavering ability to deliver the US nuclear deterrent.
You will work in partnership with the Q-19 Group Leader in providing vision, technical leadership, and management for the group. The Deputy Group Leader reports to the Group Leader and assists and complements the Group Leader in ensuring effective program execution and sound fiscal management, stimulating program development activities and promoting personnel development. You will also be a member of the Weapon Stockpile Modernization leadership team.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated successful leadership of technical projects and personnel. Proven ability in supervising, directing assignments, assuring training and development, resolving conflicts, mentoring, team building, managing staff requirements, motivating employees, and monitoring performance. Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated successful teamwork and consensus building consistent with appropriate delegation and recognition of others with the ability to team, collaborate, or integrate across program lines to accomplish larger program goals.
Demonstrated experience with developing staffing plans, recruiting, and staff development. Demonstrated commitment to Laboratory goals and Safe Conduct of Research principles for ensuring the health and safety of workers and the public, environmental protection, workforce diversity, and employee development. Demonstrated commitment to Laboratory goals in assuring the security of classified information.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Familiarity with Air Force and Navy flight & test programs
Formal training in personnel management/leadership
Demonstration of program development
Fundamental knowledge of nuclear weapons and the U.S. stockpile
Familiarity with Los Alamos National Laboratory weapons research and programmatic activities
Experience with weapon component design, fabrication and assembly techniques, as well as advanced fabrication processes
Knowledge of test hardware and experimental design methodologies
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
