Los Alamos National Laboratory Financial Systems Analyst 3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Lab invites you to join the Controller Systems Team. The Controller Division is looking for a Financial Systems Analyst professional to provide business systems support and become a member of the Controller Systems, (CNTL-SYS) Group.

The CNTL-SYS Group is seeking to fill a position as a Systems Analyst with a focus on the support and maintenance for Oracle General Ledger, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Inventory Modules. Primary duties will include delivering business solutions within the modules, application configuration, functional testing to support new releases/upgrades and the development of functional designs. The candidate will work with functional business owners and users to analyze financial problems and processes that are solved with automated systems; provide support in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements; configure system settings and options; plan and execute unit, integration and acceptance testing; create specifications for systems to meet business requirements and design details of automated systems. Will provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems. Candidate must have strong organizational, teamwork, and customer service skills. Reliability, availability and the ability to work outside a regular schedule are a must.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Business Systems Knowledge and Support

Extensive professional knowledge and experience in accounting and financial systems information technology theory, principles, and techniques, along with applying that knowledge to accounting and financial management processes as it relates to Oracle. Extensive working experience with budgeting and/or accounting with specific emphasis in Oracle General Ledger and Project Accounting Modules or a related financial business process. Demonstrated advanced technical judgment in determining cost-effective methods. Extensive knowledge and experience to translate strategies into specific objectives and action plans; align processes and systems to support strategic priorities; obtain and allocate needed resources to meet functional objectives and deliverables. Knowledge of cross-functional work processes and interfaces to include, but not limited to, supply chain management, performance assurance, project controls, and project management.

Technical knowledge

Extensive working experience with Oracle Financials or similar Enterprise Business System Suite, General Ledger and Project Accounting Modules, including the configuration set-ups, available functionality, and the integration of these modules with the Oracle HRMS and Financial modules. Proven ability to test and support new releases, upgrades and the development of functional designs.

Requirements/Documentation

Advanced experience analyzing financial reporting problems, developing strategies, and designing reporting solutions.

Project Delivery

Advanced demonstrated experience in delivering business solutions within the project accounting and general ledger modules as well as application configuration. Advanced knowledge and experience leading special projects requiring the development of unique solutions to problems, recommending and implementing courses of actions.

Communication/Teamwork

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to resolve, motivate, negotiate, influence, build consensus among others in order to successfully implement changes and acceptance of new ideas or concepts while collaborating with other functional system analysts, technical resources, and subject matter experts for the area they support and to provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems.

Education/Experience:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field and 8 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Oracle Project Accounting and General Ledger Module

  • Experience working with Inventory and Fixed Assets modules

  • Experience with Oracle organizational hierarchy, project costing and burden setup

  • Experience in SQL, PL/SQL, and Workflow

This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year .

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
