The goal of FCIC is to link fundamental chemical and thermo-physical properties (e.g., glass transition, surface energy, rheology, etc...) to biomass solids handling and transport, and biomass reactivity and selectivity. This project uniquely bridges fundamental science to engineering application. Candidates will work with a multidisciplinary team comprised of chemists, chemical engineers, biochemists, biologists, mechanical engineers, and modelers from eight national labs to address the current challenges facing Integrated Biorefineries. The initial postdoctoral appointment will be for two years.
