What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Engineer Technologist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties of this position in the areas of system and facility configuration management and technical baseline management, including:
Engineering Technologist 2 ($83,300 - $136,200)
The successful candidate will:
Following, reviewing, and updating detailed technical procedures
Supporting configuration management
Defining and controlling system and facility modifications
Assisting in the implementation of the facility safety basis
Maintaining system and facility technical baselines
Monitoring, tracking, and trending of major systems
Defining maintenance requirements
Troubleshooting; root cause analysis; Preparing detailed corrective maintenance instructions for complex or critical systems
Implementing LANL’s Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program
Performing facility and system walk downs
Engineering Technologist 3 ($91,800 - $151,400)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Engineering Technologist 3 will be required to:
Work on systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods and technology aided engineering tools
Develops resolution to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements
Demonstrated technical experience in design engineering or system engineering for nuclear or industrial facility operations
Demonstrated working experience with industry codes and standards
Experience in engineering including design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical baseline maintenance
Demonstrated experience with modification definition and control
Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both written and verbally
Experience with maintenance testing/ acceptance testing
Additional Job Requirements for Engineering Technologist 3:
In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Engineering Technologist 3 level requires:
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Expert knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and construction methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of DOE and LANL standards applicable to facility design, operation, and maintenance
At least one year of experience in a nuclear facility
Awareness of the LANL Quality Policies and Procedures
Active DOE Q Clearance
Engineering Technologist 2 Education Required: Technical associate’s degree or college bachelor’s degree preferred. At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Engineering Technologist 3 Education Required: Typically requires a BS degree in engineering, engineering technology or other relevant degree and 8 years of related experience
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
