Los Alamos National Laboratory Deputy Group Leader (Environmental Manager 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Environmental Protection Compliance Programs (EPC-CP), which is responsible for environmental site compliance activities across LANL, through close collaboration with Laboratory programs, DOE, and regulators, is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Deputy Group Leader

As the Deputy Group Leader, you will work as a vital member of the Group leadership team providing technical leadership, group management, and operational and administrative support. As the Deputy Group Leader, you will report to the Group Leader and will be responsible for driving operational excellence, acting as the change manager for the group, reporting operational metrics, managing projects, developing work packages, managing deliverables, and assisting in budget management. You will help motivate group members to achieve and exceed group goals and deliverables; and will help foster a professional, collaborative working environment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience leading a team/organization in all aspects of organizational management, capability and staff development, performance and salary management.

  • Experience with collaboration across organizational boundaries and the ability to manage customer relationships in a positive manner.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in one of the core functions of EPC-CP portfolio (Water Quality, Storm Water Quality, Meteorology and/or Radiological Air Emissions Management).

  • Experience applying project management principles to set project scope, schedule, priorities, and deliverables.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of EPC-CP Permits and Regulatory requirements.

  • Experience managing Environmental Services at LANL.

  • Experience managing budgets.

  • Experience working with State and Federal Regulators.

  • Experience with developing and delivering high quality deliverables on or ahead of schedule.

Note to Applicants:

This position is predominantly office work, with occasional field support work that can include work at elevation (rooftops), in industrial settings, and working near sources of radiological contamination or ionizing radiation.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
