Los Alamos National Laboratory Cybersecurity Technical Staff (Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The selected candidate will serve as Team Leader of our Technical Security Engineering and Compliance team, which plans, coordinates, and assists with information security compliance and accreditation related to enterprise networks and IT systems. This team carries out information assurance activities related to security plan management, Protected Distribution Systems (PDS), TEMPEST, and Communications Security (COMSEC).

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Technical Security Engineering and Compliance team.

  • Maintaining PDS, TEMPEST, and COMSEC programs and activities.

  • Managing information security compliance and accreditation activities.

  • Coordinating audits and assessments of L2 ISSP networks.

  • Establishing team priorities and provide guidance for staff.

  • Developing strong, cooperative working relationships with LANL cybersecurity stakeholders.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Advanced knowledge and experience with all aspects of current network technology including network protocols, network infrastructure elements, network applications, and network services.

Advanced knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas:

  • Enterprise accreditation of classified and unclassified systems.

  • Information security compliance.

  • Communications Security (COMSEC).

  • Protected Distribution Systems (PDS).

  • TEMPEST.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare documentation and presentations for technical staff and senior level management.

Education/Experience : This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 8 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, postgraduate work may be expected.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Formal management or leadership training.

  • Project management experience.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
