Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for a mid-level Infrastructure Security Engineer to join our Security Architecture team. It is our team’s mission to provide oversight for the institution’s information system and security architecture through strategic planning and solution development on both classified and unclassified networks.

The Infrastructure Security Engineer will contribute to the planning, research, design, and debugging of a robust security architecture for the enterprise. What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Cyber Security:

Thorough technical knowledge of cyber security principles, threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigating controls as demonstrated by the ability to propose cyber security solutions to address changes in the security landscape.

Networking:

Thorough knowledge of network principles, protocols, and architecture with the ability to read network diagrams, troubleshoot network traffic, or to define network requirements in support customer requests.

Architecture:

Experience proposing architectural changes or integrating security solutions, defensive measures, and/or security controls into the network architecture.

Communication:

Outstanding written and oral technical communication skills as evidenced by the ability to successfully communicate or document complex information.

Team Dynamics:

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse team of technical professionals to support multiple concurrent tasks with changing programmatic priorities.

Education/Experience: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with governance and compliance for US federal agencies.

  • Security operations experience involving event analysis and correlation.

  • Experience with enterprise-grade security solutions (e.g. WAF, NGFW, IDS/IPS).

  • Automated analysis and scripting with Python or similar languages.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
