What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Process & Sampling Technician 2/3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Join the Los Alamos National Laboratory Standards and Calibration Laboratory (S&CL) as a calibration technician supporting LANL Programs and organizations that take make high impact and high consequence measurements in support of National Science and Security. The S&CL is ISO 17025 accredited and provides National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable dimensional, electrical, and physical calibrations. The S&CL is a learning organization focused on providing excellent customer service by providing exceptional calibration quality.
As a calibration technician, you will be responsible for performing and documenting calibrations of customer measurement and test equipment in one or more assigned calibration areas (e.g. dimensional, electrical, physical). Types of calibration may include, but are not limited to, shock, vibration, mass, balance, voltage, current, frequency, etc. We are looking for an enthusiastic employee who is inquisitive with a passion for detail, a strong desire to learn, and a genuine interest in making measurement science a career.
Process & Sampling Technician 2 $47,400 - $72,900
Performs simple to moderately complex measurement and test equipment calibrations in limited assigned area/s using established procedures. Responsible for accurately documenting calibration results. Must adhere to quality and technical procedures to ensure quality results. This position requires calibration-related familiarity, knowledge, ability, and experience.
Process & Sampling Technician 3 ($52,200 - $80,800)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the Process & Sampling Technician 3 performs a broader range of calibration (either within the area or in multiple areas) or more complex calibrations in limited areas. Provides support of accreditation, bench operability, and/or quality control efforts. Provides limited bench operability support the metrology engineers. This position requires complete and expert knowledge, advanced skill and experience in calibration.
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
