What You Will Do
The Bioscience Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking outstanding candidates for a Post-Master student position in Protein Engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers and technicians as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary research project that focuses on protein engineering, protein characterization and detection. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, and experience with DNA cloning and protein characterization. This is a 1-year limited term appointment with the option to renew depending on performance and funding availability.
What You Need
Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques and protein characterization
Experience with DNA cloning and mutagenesis
Knowledge of physical properties of proteins/peptides
Excellent communication and writing skills in the English language
Ability and eagerness to work in a collaborative team environment Education/Experience: Masters degree in a relevant STEM field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Biophysics completed within the past 3 years with a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Desired Qualifications:
Deep knowledge in molecular biology techniques including DNA cloning, vector design, host selection
Experience working with protein expression, purification, and characterization
Experience with protein characterization methods such as HPLC, MS
Experience with protein engineering and high-throughput selection
