What You Will Do
The Pit Technologies (PT) Division is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, results-oriented office administrator to support one of the groups within the division. The administrative assistant will provide administrative support for a wide variety of generalized office-related activities, and will be responsible for providing information regarding administrative policies and procedures. The incumbent will provide administrative support to the management and staff of an active, complex technical organization, while maintaining an office environment of utmost professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion. Assignments may be moderately difficult and complex in nature, and require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations while working under limited supervision.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Administration: Advanced knowledge and experience conducting general office management duties in a busy, fast-paced office environment while maintaining confidentiality and discretion on certain matters.
Communication: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Organization: Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and follow-through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.
Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to respond to customer requests and provide timely responses while delivering professional service.
Education/Experience: Position requires a High School Diploma and 3 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be desirable.
Business System: Proficiency in multiple Laboratory-wide business systems (e.g., Oracle, Time and Labor (experience with LANL special pay provisions on-call, overtime, shift differential, Saturday/Sunday Premium, etc.), Ariba (Super DPR qualifications), Concur, UTrain, Foreign Visit Tracking System) and computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint and SharePoint).
Policies and Procedures: Familiarity with Laboratory organizational structure, administrative policies and procedures.
Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
