What You Will Do
Use your administrative skills to support national security! The Integrated Weapons Experiments (J) Division is looking for an entry level administrative assistant to support our Dynamic Structure Design and Engineering (J-2) Group. J-2 is responsible for the development of engineering standards, design, analysis, and procurement of impulsively loaded vessels and structures in support of the HSEES (Hydrodynamic and Subcritical Experiment Execution Support) Program. The Administrative Assistant 3 will report to the Staff Operations Manager and will lead administrative support functions for J-2. Key areas of responsibility will include serving as a primary point of contact; processing and archiving a variety of forms; coordinating domestic and foreign travel; and serving as a Designated Procurement Representative (DPR).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience providing administrative support in a busy office environment requiring knowledge of an extensive body of rules and specialized functions, such as travel, procurement, calendar management, and meeting scheduling/logistics.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including the demonstrated ability to independently interpret data and information to produce Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other administrators and key contacts outside own area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization.
Demonstrated ability to calmly manage frequent interruptions and changing priorities; complete assignments without established procedures; be available, dependable, and punctual.
Education and Experience
Position requires a minimum of 2-4 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Knowledge of Laboratory structure and administrative processes/tools such as LANL procurement, LANL domestic and foreign travel; LANL vault custodian duties; and/or Classified Matter Primary Custodian (CMPC) training.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
